A Couple of Things
- Today was the second day in a row that I’ve woken up crying. Not just like weeping a little bit but uncontrollably sobbing. Yesterday, it was because I had a dream that my mom was dead and I had to plan her funeral. Today, I don’t even know what happened, but I just woke up with tears streaming down my face. So, that’s fun. Relatedly, I’m pretty sure The Dude thinks that I’m completely losing my mind. He might be right.
- Work has been pretty good, since the only cases I’m busy on are the ones I really care about. I have two asylum cases and one housing case, and all three of them are pro bono. Given how much I complain about work otherwise, it’s amazing to realize just how little burning the midnight oil bothers me when it’s for a good cause. I’ve also started calling my Latino asylum client Elian Gonzales, which I feel is completely appropriate in a professional setting.
- I got a bikini wax today (hello to all 2 of my male readers!) and the waxer wanted to discuss the European debt crisis. I couldn’t tell if she wanted to figure out a way to take my mind off of what was happening to me, or if she genuinely wanted to talk about it. But she was Greek, so I gave her the benefit of the doubt. In case you were wondering, she thinks the Germans are just the worst.
- For those of you who asked about my glorious three foot long Super Bowl sandwich, it was from Joe Dough, a new sandwich shop on 1st Avenue. Included in the price was a $15 deposit for the three foot long sandwich board, which is currently leaning against a corner in my kitchen. I’m not NOT considering keeping it.
- Everyone should host a Super Bowl party, because not only is it fun to have your friends over for a night of football and snarky discussion of commercials, but I literally have more beer in my fridge than God. You know, if God had a fridge. And also was real.
- I ran in a 4 mile race on Sunday morning before the game. It was awesome and I had a great time and was faster than I thought I’d be. So now I’m obsessed with signing up for more races. MOAR RACES. I’ve also started procrastinating at work by going on Athleta and Lululemon and looking at running clothes, instead of JCrew and Banana Republic. I’ve officially become one of “those” women. It’s annoying, but I still don’t really know what a split is, though, so I think I’m good.
